WADA - 2008 List of Prohibited Substances published

As per WADA CODE and WADA practice, the 2008 Prohibited List was published on October 1, 2007, and will take effect on 1 January, 2008.

The 2008 Monitoring Program list, shows "... substances which are not on the Prohibited List, but which WADA wishes to monitor in order to detect patterns of misuse in sport." (WADA CODE Article 4.5)

WADAwatch notes that these lists merely contain the 'International Non-proprietary Names' (INNs) and not the trademarked names that consumers or Athletes may be using.

WADAwatch would suggest a better fashion of listing these substances, rather than in run-on paragraphs, could be by listing them in tabular formats, with perhaps the first column showing the INN, and the second, third (and so on) columns to list TM names where available. This can facilitate comprehension by the ultimate user, or ultimate Victim, of an Adverse Analytical Finding (AAF).
